After making a last minute decision to play Q school, I hop on the flight from Houston to LA. When I got to the course, it truly hit me about how real this is, this professional golf career that I chose a couple of months ago. I saw many many others who are on this same path as me and everyone on the same starting line with the same goal of making it to the next stage. Excitement and nervousness overwhelmed me for a couple of days as I played the practice round, but the courses were truly amazing, each course has its unique challenges that will truly test the my ability to play and score.
Playing my first round with two other great players from college was truly eye opening. I was extremely nervous, and as I was taking a couple of practice swing before teeing off, I noticed the other girls were as nervous; that's when it hit me: everyone is starting at the same starting line, all 305 of us, despite how many hours we have put in, despite how many wins we have had, despite where we came from, we are all here wanting the same thing: Stage II.
Unfortunately, my nerves got the best of me in first two rounds, but I learnt a ton of good things from my playing partners: the way they strike the ball, the way they manage the golf course, and the way they handle under-pressured shots. I kinda shot myself in the foot, thinking about things that I lack during the week, then I realized I am already here living my dream and everyone is doing the same, so why focus on things I need to do after the tournament now. So let's focus on giving my best with what I have got for the last round.
I managed to pull myself together for my last round, focusing on shots that I am good at and what I can do and went in with 100% mindset and finished strong on the last day but did not came close to making the cut. I walked away with despair but at the same time, realizing there are tons of things to work on but also things I am already good.
I knew what I needed to do, and I cannot wait to keep improving.
